Electronic Locks
An electronic lock operates by means of electric current, either in a stand-alone configuration with an electronic control assembly fixed to the lock, or as typical part of an access control system. Magnets, solenoids, and motors are employed by electronic locks to operate the lock by either delivering or removing power. Paragon Locksmith NYC offers a comprehensive variety of electronic locks from magnetic locks and electric strikes, to electric mortise locks, electrified panic bars exit hardware, and access control systems.
The most basic form of electronic lock is a magnetic lock with an electro-magnet attached on the door frame, and an analogous armature fixed on the door. The magnet is activated to attract the armature, securing the door shut tight.
Electric strikes are access control locking devices operating with AC/DC current to lock the door as power in applied or removed.
Allowing mechanical free egress, electric mortise locks and cylindrical locks replace the door mounted mechanical locks, and require an additional hole for electric power wires, as well as a power transfer hinge for power transfer from door frame to door.
Electrified panic bars exit hardware, typically installed across emergency fire escape doors, instantly open exit doors with a quick push against the panic bar.
Electronic locks are commonly used for automatic authentication via a numerical code or a security token. Advanced electronic locks employ biometric technologies for fingerprint, retinal, and iris scanning as well as voiceprint identification to authenticate users.
At Paragon Locksmith NYC, our security experts will advise you on the optimal electronic lock to fully meet your home and office security requirements.
